Brothers Bulldogs despite being the dominant side in the season proper winning fifteen of their sixteen games, had no answer to a rampaging Hervey Bay Bombers in the Wide Bay AFL grand final. The Bombers scored six goals to three in the first quarter to set up the win and despite the Bulldogs picking up a goal to trail by sixteen points at half time, the Bombers were always in control.

The Bombers scored three goals to two in the third quarter, before again outscoring the Bulldogs four goals to two in the the final period for a final score line of 15.12-102 to 10.7-67. It was a remarkable turnaround by a team beaten by 70 points in round 19 when the Bulldogs thrashed the Bombers.

Jordan Darlington and Terry Brereton each scored three majors for the victors, with Shannon Beavis the other multiple goal scorer with two. Seven other players scored goals as well while Jake Goldsmith with three and Ronald Blair and Andrew Hatfield with two each the multiple scorers for the Bulldogs. Best for the Bombers were Shannon Beavis, Bradley Wex and Cameron Baker with Andrew Hatfield, Jake Goldsmith and Scott Anderson the standouts for the Bulldogs.
