In the Circle

I was amazed with the high level of hockey played on the
weekend. During most of the games played, the score difference
was no more than two in each game. Whatever the result, both
teams should be proud and pleased with the effort they applied
during the fixtures.
I was absolutely enthralled in a Boys’ J2 game between Rovers
and All Black/Raiders. I couldn’t take my eyes from the battle
that was being played out between two great teams. At half time,
Rovers were in front 2 – 1 but All Blacks/Raiders weren’t going
to rest. It was a see-saw affair with the ball going form one
end to the other.
Jaidyn Black played a very important role in the full back
position for Rovers keeping the forward momentum of All
Blacks/Raiders to a minimum. Nathan Formosa dealt out some
fantastic balls to the forwards in the Rovers team with the
goals being scored by Luke Randle (2) and Nathaniel Hill (1). A
young player to watch out for in the future, is a little player
in the goal box by the name of Callum Black, who had made some
amazing saves throughout the game.
All Blacks/Raiders were keen to take the win and through some
excellent stick work from Mitchell Kiss (2) and Jake Osbourn (2)
hit back to win the game 4 – 3. Riley Martin was a fantastic
winger during the second half making some good runs and chasing
down any loose balls. The All Blacks/Raiders team were thrilled
with the end result and can be all proud of their never-die
attitude. I was particularly impressed with the ball running of
Sam Pickton who carried the ball on his stick. All the Members
of the All Blacks/Raiders team played an important role in the
final result.
I am looking forward to the Preliminary Final fixtures next
weekend as there will be some great hockey on show. Why not come
along and support a local team.
As the season comes to an end for 2010, you may wish to try your
hand at a different sport in 2011, Bundaberg Hockey are inviting
