As I sit here to write this Grand
Final week report, I think to myself, what a year it has been.
There has been the ups and downs, amazing performances, great
volunteers, supportive sponsors (could always be more), but most
importantly wonderful netball.
Grand Final Day is going to be a cracker. With all division
except division 1 having the number 1 and 2 teams after the
rounds playing off in the grand final. Division one is 1 verse
3. The highly fancied ATW Gold will be looking to make the title
theirs again this year. Will the under dogs Alloway Purple
manage to cause the biggest upset of the day and knock them off
the mantle??? It is set to be a tough hard fort game. I think it
will come down to how each team’s younger members can step up to
the mark of the big GF and the crowd that will be associated
with it.
Division 2 will see Alloway 3 face off against Natives 2. These
2 teams have had some close games during the year and this one
could go either way. Both teams are beaming with experience
which should make for an interesting game. The young heads of
Alloway 5 will come up against the mix of youth and experience
of ATW 3 in division 3 grand final. Alloway were able to nudge
away with the win in the major semi finals. My mail tells me
that Alloway have an injury in the camp and ATW have a player
unavailable. Will be a good one to watch!
Blazers 3 took the long road to the grand final but will be
there fighting all the way against Alloway 6 in the division 4
final. Both sides have the combinations of youth and experience,
who will be able to be the put it together for the whole game
could be the telling factor here. In the “old girls” division
(as it is more commonly known) we are set to see a repeat of
last year’s grand final when ATW 7 come up against Alloway 7.
Will ATW 7 repeat last year’s performance and steal the win away
from Alloway 7?? This one will go right down to the wire.
In club team verse club team ATW 8 face off against ATW 10 in
division 6. This game is sure to be very interesting both on and
off the court. Coach Greg verse Coach Sharon who will win out in
this battle??? I wonder how many mind games have been played
this week??? Wests 3 will play ATW 11 in the division 7 game.
Again another major semi which went right down to the wire! This
one could go either way.
Alloway 9 will come up against ATW 12 in division 8. These 2
teams dominated the competition. Another one which could go
either way. ATW 14 and Alloway 11 will play the division 9 grand
final. Alloway 11 playing against girls older than them will
they be able to produce the goods?? Division 10, the babies of
the competition will have Blazers Luxfield against ATW 16. These
2 teams have had very competitive games throughout the year and
this grand final is not going to be any different.
All 5 clubs are represented on grand final day and
congratulations to all on this achievement. Get behind your team
and come down and lend your support (only the positive keen
please). Remember the umpires are volunteers to treat them
kindly. Good Luck everyone and may the better team win on the
day.
Nippers finished on a high last weekend with their annual Wide
Bay Australia Nipper Break Up Day. All players got to experience
a day filled with game situation and work really hard under the
hot conditions. Thank you to all the nipper coaches for your
work throughout the year. Looking forward to seeing you all back
next year.
The Aussies will come up against the Kiwis on Sunday. So check
you local guides for the tv times. My prediction is Aussies by
12. Lets just see how good I am.
Well better go now. Have a great grand final day and an even
better celebration afterwards.
