A triumphant Diggers side
after receiving the Archem Premier League premiership trophy.
Shorts
Rob Asnicar is a colourful character for sure, take Friday's
third div match for example. The whistleblower on taking to the
field felt his shirt clashed with that of North Bundaberg who
were warming up. Back to the shed for the yellow one. Oops that
clashed with Diggers, oh well let's try the blue one. Nice one
'Rainbow'
Vince Habermann was happy with his performance in the Bridge to
Brisbane 10km run on Sunday, recording a time of 52.17 placing
3763rd out of about 30,000.
In the Archem Premier League, the 7 clubs had 81 different goal
scorers, ATW the most with 14 Moore Park the least with 9.
Diggers duo Nick Maas and Michael Stayte scored 50 between
them..
To the Moore Park ladies who felt Bingera's forfeit on Friday
denied their players a chance at the 'Golden Boot'. Bingera also
forfeited to BAV earlier in the season.
Diggers and Moore Park clash in Qualifying Final in div. 1 and
the Elimination Final in div 2 which will allow supporters to
watch both games.
A big performance from Diggers who went undefeated during the
premiership rounds. Diggers have also proved to be the best
disciplined, if cards are the selection criteria. No reds and
less yellows than any other club.
Brenton Walk had his first win in our Foxsports Fantasy League
with a win over Michael Stayte over the weekend. Your turn this
weekend MS.

Brothers
Aston Villa and North Bundaberg have both made the semis
in every age group they contested, an outstanding effort by
all concerned. While the two Clubs have not had the same
success in the senior divisions this year, both must have
high hopes for the future.
Brothers Aston Villa Secretary Kayleen Bryan said The "Club
was proud of the achievement of their junior teams being in
the semi-finals of every age group they have contested. She
added "This outcome was the result of the dedicated efforts
of the many players, parents and supporters of the Club who
have taken on positions of coaches and managers to
contribute to the development of their junior players. We
wish them every success in their finals.”
North Bundaberg President Ian Clarke also ecstatic with his
Clubs achievements said "North Bundaberg Eagles Football
Club in its 40th year has grown from 167 players in 2009 to
279 players in 2010". "Our club is the only club with a
junior team in every division and are very proud of our
players, Coaches and Managers who this year have bought
every Junior competition team to the semi finals". Ian
concluded "On behalf of the executive I wish our teams all
the best as they progress towards the finals".

Moore Park keeper Brenton Walk
was unable to save Harry Gray's penalty shot on Saturday.
Former
Bundaberg goalkeeper Mitch Langerak, now playing his
trade with Borussia Dortmund in Germany is in the running
for the Harry Kewell Medal for best under-23 player in the
Professional Footballers Association's 2010 Footballer of
the Year awards. The winner will be announced at a gala in
Sydney on October 7th. Others in the running include Robbie
Kruse, Tommy Oar and Dario Vidosic,

Diggers were at times brilliant on
Saturday, and their drubbing of last years grand final
winners Bingera has certainly put them in the box seat for
end of season honours. The first twenty minutes in which
they scored three goals was simply outstanding. For some
reason they seemed to sense that victory was assured and
seemed happy with the 3-0 score line at half time. When
Bingera scored first in the second half Diggers were quick
to respond and to their credit finished the match with an
intensity that would have pleased coach Nathan Darlington,
by scoring a further six goals in the second half for a
comprehensive 9-2 win. Bingera had no answer to the Diggers
onslaught and will have to back up against Waves ion the
elimination semi against a resurgent Waves minus Normie
Wales who was red carded during the match after a clash with
Diggers five goal hero Nick Maas.
Moore Park, minus a number of their regular first graders
will have to improve on their draw with a depleted Brothers
Aston Villa. Villa who were beaten by Bingera in last years
grand final have missed out on September action by a single
point. Villa coach Peter Bock said "It was sad we missed out
on the finals but overall it wasn’t a bad season". "A
defensive error saw us down early but an early goal in the
second half from Harry Gray gave us a chance". "Josh McGinnis
and Kyle Taylor in the midfield were strong in both defence
and attack and Mal Cooper, Ashley Taylor and Harry Gray
along with young keeper Sam Collinson also had good games".
